Boxer Training Tips
You need to go back to the beginning if you are looking for
some good Boxer training tips in order to get started.
You need to make sure that in a training situation that you understand exactly what it is that your Boxer needs
from you and then learn how to give it to them.
It is a common mistake that many people make by assuming that their dog is much smarter then what they actually
are.
Your dog is no doubt smart but ultimately they are still an animal with animal instincts so they will simply
react to you, looking to be accepted into becoming one in the pack.

In order to get the best out of training your Boxer and get them out of those bad behaviours instead of scolding
them and telling them off, you should instead focus on changing how they express their instincts.
Core Boxer Training Tips
There are a few basic things that can make training your Boxer much easier that every owner needs to
consider.
Leash Training
The most important thing you can do if you are having trouble with walking your dog on a leash is to teach them
to reach a calm and controlled state. By being in this controlled state, your Boxer will then be able to respond to
your commands without getting too excited about the upcoming walk. Most dogs who have problems on the leash are
simply allowed to run around and pull.
You need to make your dog stop and sit if they are pulling on the leash, before walking off again. In turn, your
Boxer will soon learn that the pulling association against the lead will result with the stop of their walk.
Crate Training
You should never use your crate as a punishment for your dog because a crate provides your dog with a place that
it can call its own. Make sure you spend time with your dog in the crate so that they feel comfortable and having a
crate can make anxiety and barking issues much better.
Obedience Training
The best obedience training that your Boxer can get will come from obedience classes. You will learn as a new
dog owner how to ensure you have the alpha leadership of the household, as well as learning how to give them clear,
strong commands. Obedience classes are great if you have a new puppy or you are having difficulty controlling your
older Boxer.
The Alpha Position
Maintaining your position as leader in the household is the most important dog training tip that you will learn.
The onus is on you to teach your dog to understand that you are the leader of the pack and have control of any
situation, rather than your dog to work this out for themselves because they don’t generally understand what you
are saying.
Once you have established the alpha leadership your Boxer can then relax because they can stop worrying about
who is going to protect them and will follow your commands.
Consistency
The most important Boxer training tip that you can get is the need for consistency across your commands. Most of
what your Boxer learns is by way of repeated, clear commands.
If you only follow through with your training plan when you have the time your Boxer will become confused and
stop obeying you. Ensure everybody in your family is clear about the rules that you want your Boxer to follow.
